Thor MX Amateurs Capture Four Championships In Texas

After two weeks of racing in the Lone Star State, Thor MX amateur riders raced for a total of four championships and another impressive 19 podium finishes at both Oak Hill Raceway and Freestone Raceway.

The two-week stint in Texas started with the riders convening on Oak Hill Raceway in Decatur for the GNC Finals. Lance Kobusch and Sean Cantrell shined as each took home a championship in their respective Jr. Supermini 65-150 (7-11) and 85/150 (12-13) Modified classes.

Thor MX riders also collected seven podium finishes, with Rookie White, Colt Nichols, Ryder DiFrancesco, Tanner Stack, Pierce Brown, and Tristan Charboneau all standing on the overall podium.

Keeping up the momentum gained at Oak Hill, the riders then headed just south to Freestone Raceway in Wortham, Texas for the Freestone Spring Championship. This time it was Tristan Charboneau and Joey Crown taking the top honors with each earning titles. Crown’s title brought his count to three for the springtime competition, earning two previous titles at the races at Millcreek MX.

It may have only been two Thor riders with titles at Freestone, but the team filled out the podium with seven second-place finishes and five third-place finishes. Jordan Bailey grabbed a three podium finishes, while Tanner Stack, Ryder DiFrancesco, and Lance Kobusch grabbed two podium results. Tristan Charboneau added a podium finish to his championship run, and Sean Cantrell and Stilez Robertson also grabbed podium finishes.

In addition to the riders on the podium, the Thor amateur riders were always a threat. In 11 additional classes, Thor amateur riders finish just off the podium in fourth, including Pierce Brown, Tristan Charboneau, Sean Cantrell, Joey Crown, Lance Kobusch, Colt Nichols, Tanner Stack, and Challen Tennant.

Many riders won’t get too much down time as the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship qualifiers for Loretta Lynn’s are in full swing with Area qualifiers going on now and Regionals starting up at the end of May.
